A Story of Connection.
Eagle Communications’ beginning was simple in 1948,
based on connecting people with people through radio and
television transmission. It was a foundation built on
hard work, trust and integrity.
Originally known as KAYS, Inc. and based in Hays,
Kansas, Eagle Communications began in the commercial
television, radio broadcasting, and cable television
business. In 1989, the company sold its commercial
television stations, and now concentrates on radio
broadcasting, cable television, Internet service, and
telephone service.
Today, Eagle owns and operates 28 radio stations in
Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska and 33 cable systems in
Kansas and Colorado. Eagle offers Internet, Telephone,
and Television service in the following communities in
Kansas: Abilene, Bennington, Bird City, Chapman, Clay Center,
Ellis, Ellsworth, Enterprise, Florence, Goodland, Hays,
Hillsboro, Hope, Hoxie, Kanopolis, Lincoln,
Lincolnville, Marion, McDonald, Milford, Minneapolis,
Munjor,
Oberlin, Riley, Russell, Solomon, St. Francis, Victoria,
WaKeeney, Wakefield, White City, Woodbine,
and in Wray, Colorado.
Eagle owns and operates radio stations in Hays, Great Bend, Hutchinson,
Junction City, Manhattan and Salina, Kansas; St. Joseph, Missouri;
and North Platte, Alliance, and Chadron, Nebraska.
In 1998, Eagle owner Bob Schmidt began transferring
ownership of the company to 116 of his faithful
employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
Since 2002, they have owned a majority of the company.
In 2010, that number of employee-owners grew to 207 ESOP
participants. We find that this ownership motivates our
employee-owners to do and be their best. And we believe
that our customers deserve nothing less.
Eagle’s goal is simple: We want to connect people. We
desire to provide efficient and high-quality
communication services to our customers in each
community through advanced technology and the customer
service to back up our belief that our customers and our
audience are our most important assets.
