Eagle Communications Gift to
Ellis County EMS Makes Ellis
County Schools Heart Safe
December
27, 2010 (Hays, Kansas) – An
Eagle Communications gift to
Ellis County Emergency Medical
Service will provide Automatic
External Defibrillators (AEDs)
to schools in Ellis County.
“We know how valuable this
equipment is,” said Eagle
Communications president Gary
Shorman. “We are happy that now
EMS will be able to place a life
saving defibrillator in the five
Ellis County schools that needed
them.”
The AEDs will go to St. Mary’s
School in Ellis, Victoria
Elementary and Victoria High
School, Holy Family Elementary
in Hays and Thomas Moore
Prep-Marian High School in Hays.
Sudden cardiac death is a
devastating occurrence that can
strike anyone at any time. The
only intervention that can
rescue an individual who is
having a cardiac arrest is
defibrillation. AEDs have been
shown to be effective when used
on victims of cardiac arrest as
long as they are used within the
first few minutes after the
arrest begins and are typically
more effective when combined
with CPR.
